I live in Lewisboro, NY. Our town is extremely strict with wetland rules.
My home is in close proximity to wetland buffer and I understand it is not preferable to send gray water into the septic tank. At the moment, the laundry waste line is just dumping out the back of the building, with wetland 30 feet away. Is there a way that the water can be made clean enough to drain to the wetland? What would be a best solution? -Thx

Storage of greywater without disinfection for any length of time allows bacterial growth to occur, in effect turning greywater into blackwater. Immediate use of the greywater for irrigation avoids this.

Wintertime in cold climates also can create freeze ups in outside tanks and irrigation lines, even ice build up on lawns, gardens, driveways, etc. This has to be considered carefully. Methods include only using greywater seasonally, discharging to areas that can tolerate ice buildup, and using discharge pipes that drain completely on each use so water in them can’t freeze and plug with ice.

I have a 1500 holding tank for waste which is costly to have pumped. I am looking for a grey water solution to save excess water from going into the holding tank. The grey water would be used for the garden and perhaps other uses if enough. Suggestions?

Interesting, I haven’t heard of that one.

Look at grey4green’s Aquifer Pipe.
Distributes the greywater into the garden subsurface.

You can certainly do that if you’d like. I’d recommend using that reused water for more garden/lawn maintenance.

Any help appreciated
